Building Diagnostics
Building diagnostics to better understand components of the building system. Cozy Home Performance is your energy efficiency specialist.
Cozy Home Performance can provide full service energy contracting services and diagnostic quality assurance to ensure your building performs as a modern, energy efficient building should.
We are able to verify building performance specifications are met in regard to:
- Air exchanges
- Building tightness
- Continuity of building envelope
We are able to contribute to your project by offering the following services:
- Define thermal boundaries
- Verify specified or general building tightness goals
- Pre-drywall insulation inspection
- Pre & post blower door air tightness quantification
- Infrared thermography
- HVAC duct air tightness testing
Infrared Thermography
Used for inspection of building thermal envelope, roof inspection, pre/post verification of insulation performance, and general analysis. It is an essential and valued-added service for homeowners and builders in residential and commercial applications; new construction and renovation.
Blower Door/ Envelope Tightness
The blower door test accurately measures building air leakage (infiltration/exfilatration) rate. It is invaluable in monitoring in-progress and final air leakage targets for new construction and post reductions for renovations. It can be used to diagnose pressure boundaries between zones in a building. For instance, hidden air flow communication between adjacent spaces such as a garage attached to an adjacent living/conditioned space. A blower door is a useful tool for diagnostics. It is also employed to verify goals for decreased air exchanges are met during remediation.
HVAC duct leakage detection.
Used to test for air tightness ensuring efficiency of the heat, ventilation, or air conditioning delivery system.
Building airflow testing and ventilation requirements
How tight is too tight? After tightening up a building, the need for mechanical ventilation must be assessed to ensure proper air changes per hour for the health and safety of the occupants.
Zonal pressure diagnostics/ back-draft testing
It is imperative that home depressurization limits are tested to ensure that atmospherically vented combustion appliances do not back draft combustion gases into living space. This is very important for the health and safety of building occupants.
