Preparing Your Pet For Spring
Warm weather is here and your pooch is excited to get out and play in the yard. While it is great to let them get out and roam, here are a few things you need to do to protect your dog and keep them healthy.
Keep Them Free From Pests
Before the bugs are thick and pestering your pet, you will want to ensure that your dogs all natural tick and mosquito control are up to date. Ticks and fleas can make your pup miserable and endanger their health. Making sure their medication is working will make their summer much more fun.
Brush Them Free Of the Winter
As the seasons change from winter to spring, your dog will start to shed its thicker coat. Brushing them on a regular basis will make them cooler quicker and keep your possessions from being coated in dog hair.
Check Out Their Play Space
The drifts of snow that melted away in your backyard might leave you a few surprises. Check for holes of deteriorated earth that your pooch might dig at and escape. Also, look for toys and other objects that could hurt your animal if they eat them or step on them.
Get Them Into the Vet
Spring is a good time to take your pet to the vet for a checkup. You will want to make sure that their yearly shots and teeth cleaning are done. It is also a great time to make sure their registration, and microchip information is also up to date.
Once your pet is ready themselves for the new season, take a once over around the interior and exterior of your house to ensure there is nothing that can make your pet sick. Double check the pesticides and fertilizers you use on your lawn and bushes to make sure they are not poison for your dog.
